52

In August of 2020 wildfires raged through California. We were evacuated from our home for almost three weeks. When we returned, we were under a “don’t boil don’t drink” mandate with the water department. And we were the lucky ones.

Now I live in Las Vegas, where the issue of water is a daily relality and temperatures reach 115 degrees in the summer.

I began 52 in 2022, but had to stop for a variety of reasons. I am relauncing this series of impressions, one artistic exploration for every week of the year beginning in Septemeber of 2026. These mediations on the climate will take a variety of forms: poems, flash fiction, short plays and monologues, photography or visual art. The series will conclude in Septemeber of 2027.
